I’ve been fortunate enough to work from home for a large majority of my adult life. I love the freedom of setting my own hours, and wearing what I want to work. Hello, pajamas! Over the last few years I’ve mastered the art of making my home office highly effective, and a few organization tools are all that you need to make it happen!
In this office space from Martha Stewart, a floating shelf makes a dramatic difference. Use a shelf like this one to display small collectables, or use it to keep paperwork organized!
Everyone in my family always seems to be misplacing their phone chargers. Talk about annoying! Assign a roll of patterned Washi tape to each family member, and have them cover their chargers will it. It keeps cords organized and your phone charger will ALWAYS be available.
Every office needs a few desk organizers! They keep the work space exciting, and all of your supplies neat and organized. These wood grain organizers are appealing to the eye, and they create an interesting texture!
Every good business man and woman knows to never mix business with pleasure! The same goes for working at home. Only do work in your home office, and only “live” in your home. Keep the two as separate as possible for maximum production.
Your comfort is necessary when working in an office, or at home! Make sure you pick an office chair that is both comfortable and supportive. You spend most of your time sitting here, you may as well make sure it’s comfortable!
It can be tempting to ignore that “Software Update Recommended” message that pops up on your computer every once and awhile. But you shouldn’t ignore it! Keep your computers and technology always updated so it’s working at it’s fastest. You won’t believe how much time is lost staring at a loading screen!
Keep things minimal and clean whenever possible. Keep your workspace organized and tidy for maximum production. Everything should have a place, and it should be easily accessible!
Above all, make sure that you never forget to add personal touches to your workspace. Add touches of inspiration, whether it be photos of your family, or photos of a vacation destination. All ideas are great! Create a vision board that inspires you to stay focused, even when you’re the most bored!
