I’ve been on a “natural cleaning” kick as of late. Instead of buying cleaning supplies with harsh chemicals at the grocery store, I’ve been making my own with things like 100 percent vinegar. Believe it or not, I’ve noticed a huge change in the cleanliness of my home since using more natural materials. In fact, I’ve noticed that my toilet has especially benefited from the use of more natural ingredients like vinegar! Seriously. Vinegar is one of the best cleaning ingredients that I have ever used on my toilet and I am NEVER going back. You should definitely try it out.
Can Vinegar Clean My Toilet?
Absolutely! You just have to make sure that you are using the correct kind of vinegar. While great for your gut, apple cider vinegar will only stain the porcelain of your toilet. Instead, use 100 percent distilled white vinegar. This stuff cleans though ALL the disgusting grime and buildup. Vinegar is scientifically proven to kill most nasty germs, so it’s also a great all-natural anti-microbial. If you can’t stand the heavy scent of vinegar (and trust me, I get it) add in a few drops of your favorite essential oils to the mix as well! You’ll be glad that you did.
How To Clean Your Toilet With Vinegar
If you want to learn how to clean your toilet with vinegar, it’s really super easy. Just follow my tutorial below. Here’s what you’ll need:
-100 percent distilled white vinegar
-A toilet brush
-An empty, clean spray bottle
Step One: Fill an empty spray bottle with 100 percent distilled white vinegar. Some people like to dump vinegar right into the toilet, but I feel like it is more effective (and cheaper!) to use a spray bottle. After spraying, leave the vinegar to soak for a long time, I recommend at least ten minutes.
Step Two: After leaving it to soak for at least ten minutes, use a toilet brush to scrub off any remaining stains. When I first used it, I was shocked at how easily all of the stains came off after leaving it to soak for ten minutes. It’s seriously nuts!
Step Three: After using a brush to clean things up, simply flush the toilet and enjoy how it looks without stains!
What Else Can Vinegar Clean?
If you were impressed with how well vinegar cleaned your toilet, you might be wondering what else it can do. You can use vinegar to unclog drains (alongside baking soda!), remove mildew from your tile (just spray it and let soak!), and you can even add a cup to your dishwasher to help with hard water.
