It’s that time of year when the weather cools off, and we start spending more time inside. Having a cozy living room can make it more enjoyable to stay inside. Here are some ways to update your space.
#1 Glowing lanterns.
I love the idea of warmth and light these give off. (If you have littles you may want to use LED lights or put them on a high shelf). This cozy idea was found on Pinterest.
#2 Fuzzy blankets.
Have a plethora of cozy blankets available for snuggling up in front of the fireplace. Not only do they keep you warm and cozy, but they are a great accent to your couch! We found this gorgeous idea here, or look around and find another great deal on a blanket that goes with your living room.
#3 Lamp light.
Lamps tend to give off softer, warmer light than overhead fluorescent bulbs. The golden light from these lamps really warms up the room and makes it feel more intimate. I love this look. Lamps gives every room the perfect feel.
#4 Plenty o’ Pillows.
Doesn’t that sofa look so inviting? There are enough pillows for everyone to get comfortable and relax. You can mix and match so many different throw pillows to create whatever look you want! Find this look on Awesome Interior.
#5 Glowing fireplace.
Do you have one but never turn it on? Or have you been itching to install one? Besides the warmth it gives off, the sight and sound of it is also comforting and cozy. I found this cozy look on Country Living.
#6 Flowing curtains.
Replace the old blinds with soft fabric curtains or nice shutters. Simply adding curtains will cozy your house right up. These beautiful curtains were found on Keeping It Cozy.
#7 Aromatherapy.
The scent of the room actually has a lot to do with the feel of it. Use a candle warmer or air freshener (I personally find Wallflowers from Bath and Body Works, pictured below, to be very effective) to get the smell you want. Often scents are designed for specific seasons.
#8 Personal Knickknacks.
Obviously it is easy to overdo it with this one, but a few keepsakes and knickknacks used as decoration can help a room feel more homey and cozy. Here is where I found this beautiful room.
#9 Color scheme.
Use warm colors like gold, red, and orange in your color scheme to add coziness. I got this great decorating tip from Day Dream Decors.
#10 Book Shelves.
Book Shelves are a perfect way to cozy up any room of the house. And there are so many different ideas for bookshelves, you can really have fun with this. I love this look.
#11 Rugs.
Isn’t this a fun rug? Rugs are a great way to add dimension, and cozy up your living room. If you don’t have a carpeted floor they are a double plus to break up that cold floor!
I hope this has inspired you with some good ideas to cozy up your living space. I know that I can’t wait to put some of these ideas into play!
