Budget patio ideas come a dime a dozen, and it can be hard to find something that’s affordable, and something that you love! If you’re planning on revamping your patio this summer, try my favorite patio ideas and patio necessities. Which budget patio idea is your favorite?
Seating
What’s a patio without a place to sit? Make sure your patio comes equipped with somewhere to put your feet up at the end of the day. Traditional patio furniture works, or you can make your own with pallets and an easy DIY guide!

Lighting
Patios are the perfect place to hang out when the nights get long and stay warm. Keep the festivities going, even after the sun goes down with easy outdoor lighting ideas. Put the string lights wherever you would like them, but here are just a few of my favorite budget patio ideas:
For more of a “cantina” vibe, drape big bulbs from pergola beams like so…
Flooring
The next time you go barefoot (which is all the time during the summer for me) your feet with thank you when they hit something other than concrete. Decorate using a large rug, or create your own paved flooring. No matter what you decide, keep it clean and debry free for bare feet.
A tiled look never goes out of style, especially if it’s one that’s laid out like this!
Greenery
Now you know that I had to include a potted plant or two, because it adds serenity and a little lush color when needed! Even if you have the smallest patio ever, a few potted plants can keep things visually interesting.
If you are low on space, use lattice to create a vertical garden. This idea is fantastic because you are able to use what you have, while making the very most of your outdoor space. Lovely!
A Little Extra
You know that I had to mention throw pillows! Bring color into your patio space with bright and vibrant throw pillows. You can change them out with the seasons to keep things interesting. Use this article from Pickled Barrel for more!
A DIY fire pit? Yes please! Keep toes (and hands) warm on cool summer nights with a DIY fire pit courtesy of How to Build It. Even novice DIYers can handle a project like this one!
